What was that idea again? 17
While engaging in another one of our deep philosophical conversations in #caboose, the topic of remembering that great idea that we had before we fell asleep or at any point during the evening.
Manfred Stienstra writes, “I always think of stuff right before I fall asleep and can’t remember them when I wake up.”
This happens to me as well, just not as much as it used to. I keep a small moleskin notebook and a pen on my bed side table and try to get everything in there as it comes up. When I open it, I see notes that don’t make any sense, which were probably after waking up from some bizarre dream. There are many business and development ideas that come up, but it’s often hard to record everything.
I’m sure that there are others who’ve faced this problem. Have you come up with a working solution? If so, would you mind sharing it?
Remember When? 8
I was looking through some old code from over two years ago, when I was playing with my first Rails applications. I noticed this hidden file in the public/ directory, called .htaccess.
Do you remember the good ‘ole days?
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /dispatch.cgi?$1 [QSA,L]
I remember when we at PLANET ARGON first starting hosting Ruby on Rails applications (two years ago now!) and we had to continually explain to people that running on FastCGI was going to significantly improve speed over their default CGI deployment. This was one of the first FAQs that we posted on our website.
...oh how we’ve come a long way.
Before you know it, we’ll be on IRC and talking about the good ‘ole Rails days… like we do about the BBS days. ;-)
Do you have a remember when story related to Rails?
RubyConf Express 1
Wow… this is awesome!
The sd.rb group is following up on our concept for The Argon Express. People are heading to RubyConf 2006 from San Diego, California to Denver, Colorado on the RubyConf Express.
We had a blast on our two-day trip across the country… check out our photos on flickr.
It’s great to see the tradition continue!
Have fun! :-)
