Rails Hosting with Resource Limits

Over the past several weeks, David and Daniel have been working to make our Ruby on Rails hosting options even more streamlined. We’ve been aiming to implement new resource limits on all of our servers.

For example, did you know that when you purchase a Business Level 1 account with us (starting at only $75/month), you’re getting 196 MB of resident memory and 368 MB of virtual memory? The great part about this? You don’t have to configure and manage the server yourself… we do it for you!

If you’re shopping for some hosting… you might take a quick peak at our Rails Business Hosting packages.

..and yes, our standard hosting plans have resource limits too! We hope this will cut down on the noise that you hear from your neighbors.

Rails and Mongrel go to the Pound

We’ve been encouraging our Rails hosting customers to give Pound and Mongrel a try for deploying their Ruby on Rails applications. David Gibbons has been adding some recipes for doing this on the PLANET ARGON Documentation Project

Check out:

Pound and Mongrel

Running with Mongrel

...and today David posted an article on his blog titled, Why you need multiple mongrel instances with rails!

TypoSphere.org up and running

Finally! The Typo team and PLANET ARGON have finished the first phase of the move the Typo project to a new hosting provider. Currently, subversion and the trac have been moved over.

Take a look!

On the PLANET ARGON side… David Gibbons is responsible for making this happen.

If you see any issues, let us know in
#typo
on irc.freenode.net or in
#planetargon
.

On a side note… I’m sick and going to go get some rest now.

Another Brick in the Wall

Today is my 26th birthday!

Today I am getting our new Lead Systems Administrator, David Gibbons, up to speed with how we run our hosting servers. Expect to hear more from him in the near future. He’s jumping in and going to help take some of the hosting responsibility off of my lap as I am spending more of my time working with clients and our developers.

December is a huge month for PLANET ARGON and we have lots of fun things to announce over the next few weeks. David should have a headshot on our about page in the next few days. You can spot him in our IRC channel as dgibbons. Stop by and introduce yourself to him! I’ve known David for about 3 years and it’s great to have him join the team!

Today I am also celebrating that I got engaged last night. My lovely girlfriend took me out for dinner last night and proposed to me!

Today I turn 26 and it looks like the next year is going to be pretty exciting… :-D

...back to work.

some friends and us are meeting up at Lucky Lab brewery in SE Portland tonight:

From Allison’s email to people:
Robby’s Birthday! (at the Lucky Lab)
Date: Monday, Dec 05, 2005
Time: 7:00 PM
Address: 915 SE Hawthorne Blvd.,, Portland, OR

cheers…
